All around us, nothing but lies, lies, lies

September 17, 2015 by ADi

The below has become shockingly apparent and seems to have infiltrated the minds and wills of not only governments worldwide but sadly citizens too, believing the nonsense media feed them to create hate and fear of our fellow beings. This is now feeding off itself in such an enormous way, it is eating up our hearts. The waste and destruction this military complex is causing 'our world' is beyond reproach.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Military Industrial Speech, 1961 (or part thereof).

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist".

"Another factor in maintaining balance involves the element of time. As we peer into society's future, we - you and I, and our government, must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow".

It seems the phantom has been welcomed...

Understanding your environment

September 15, 2015 by ADi

Yet another fab'o' radio broadcast from Ann Jones at Offtrack, beautifully simplistic examination of the importance of rainforest's, rainfall generated and the misconception (lies) of regeneration once logged. For instance did you know by 2025 %80 of the globes rainforest's will have been harvested. One large tree in a rainforest will put approximately 1000 litres of water into the atmosphere, rainfall another words, it starts to become pretty clear what this means. It is so simply obvious yet it does not enter into the corrupt and greedy world of politics that this future climate issue will not only collapse the economy but the world as we know it.

Feral Cats... 15 - 23 million estimated in Australia - Radio National

September 10, 2015 by ADi

A pretty crazy show on Radio National with Dr Arian Wallach and Andrew Cox from the Invasive Species Council (ISC) with Dr Wallach suggesting we accept and embrace wild cats within our environment... It is fairly obvious Dr Wallach has no idea or clearly has no understanding of the unbelievable damage they are causing in regards to species loss and extinction.  I am actually surprised that Radio National would cover such a ridiculous argument... Click here to listen

The only point Dr Wallach seems to have a wee bit of understanding of is the fact that the re-introduction of dingos "may" in some way help to abate the hugely increasing numbers of cats. A similar point has also been argued with the re-introduction of Tasmanian Devils to the mainland which is apparently going to take place in Wilsons Prom at some point in the future, the sooner the better I say.

The program certainly gives the listener an idea of how troubling this problem is and difficult to address, having spent a great deal of time in my 42 years in the outback I know from experience these critters are damn hard to come by, they are cunning and tricky and we will never be rid of them entirely I suspect or at least not in the near future without some kind of gene structured disease or fertility control introduced into the population (another argument altogether which could be highly dangerous and spread to other species or completely fail like myxomatosis) but we certainly need in some way to try and control the numbers.

We are now entering the second wave of extinctions in Australia which will be far worse than the first...

Imagine the problem is not physical.

September 09, 2015 by ADi

Imagine the problem is not physical. Imagine the problem has never been physical, that it is not bio-diversity, it is not the ozone layer, it is not the green house effect, the whales, the old growth forest, the loss of jobs, the crack in the ghetto, the abortions, the tongue in the mouth,
the diseases stalking everywhere as love goes on. Unconcerned...

Imagine the problem is not some syndrome of our society, not something that can be solved by commissions or laws or redistribution of what we call wealth, imagine that it goes deeper, right to the core of what we call civilisation and that no one, outside of ourselves can effect real change, that our civilisations, our governments are sick and that we are mentally ill and spiritually dead and that all our issues and crises are symptoms of this deeper sickness.

Imagine the problem is not physical and no amount of driving and no amount of road will help deal with the problem. Imagine that the problem is not that we are powerless or that we are victims but that we have lost the fire and belief and courage to act.

We hear whispers of the future, we slap our hands against our ears, we catch glimpse’s, we turn our faces swiftly to the side. The whistle is always blowing, there is no denying what is before our eyes. We all know the future, we only must say it and face it. There will be no first hundred days for this future, there will be no five year plans. There will be no program.

Imagine the problem is that we cannot imagine a future where we possess less but are more, imagine the problem is a future that terrifies us because we lose our machines but gain our feet and pounding hearts.

Then what is to be done.

The Great Forests National Park

September 08, 2015 by ADi

We all need to get behind this, it may be the last chance to save the leadbeaters possum Gymnobelideus leadbeateri) not to mention the diabolical and unnecessary logging in our mountain catchments, seriously are we living in antiquated times people. There is no excuse any longer for this behaviour, the damage logging is causing through felling old growth forests which can take 250 - 500 years to recover to the environment necessary for some species not to mention the changing fire regimes we are now experiencing through constant logging of the catchments, the top soil loss damaging river environments plus the loss of water in a continent that is in for some pretty fucked times to come water wise, get with it, don't be a Rabbit or an Abbott!

Shrine Doors 1 & 2

Misanthrope - Port Jackson Press

August 31, 2015 by ADi

Below is a brief run down on my new show at Port Jackson Press Print Gallery, it features my street/installation paste up/ephemera work based around my totems commonly seen through out the Melbourne CBD and other out of the way places and suburbs.

The work has been created with a detritus theme that gives the work an appearance of something ancient and shrine like a beautiful juxtaposition with the detritus and waste often found in a great deal of the works. We will be having a Meet The Artist session this Saturday the 22nd from 2-4pm so feel free to drop in and have a look around, it is a great show and also features LazerFish and Shane Sterry, with some fab window installations to accompany the body of work. Hope to see you on Saturday. The show runs till 30th August and can be seen online at Port Jackson Press.

Totem Language
The contempt the human race holds for nature is evident in the failing landscapes around us.
With the loss of the ancient totem system in Australia, which once brought specialised management by individuals and groups who acted more like stewards.
This management did not necessarily transform the landscape so to speak. Instead it would re-energise and disperse elements abundantly necessary to enable a particular totem to flourish.
As this was enacted on a country wide scale this in turn encouraged bio-diversity and the symbiotic relationship required to manage the fragile Australian landscape, responsibly and very effectively.
This language has nearly vanished.

Marsupial Astronomical Star Chart - ACDC Lane

New wallpaper design applied to this lovely doorway in ACDC Lane/Duckboard Lane - prior to this I had a complete door "Imagination Outside of Capitalism" which was removed to make way for this spectacular glass door. Here is a google maps link to the old piece.
